As part of the rehabilitation process, these skills are divided into a series of simpler tasks corresponding to the person’s abilities. The person is given the opportunity to practice and relearn these skills in different situations such as one-on-one sessions, possibly group sessions, and in the community. The tasks are structured to allow for success initially and, if appropriate, gradually progress to more challenging tasks in the environment with more stimulation. When necessary, a person will be taught how to compensate for impairments by using calculators, calendars, journals, and community resources.
